Rezzy Carter drops ‘real’ music with new mixtape ‘I Can’t Fail’
ST. LOUIS, MO – Rezzy Carter is one of those rare individuals who found his calling at a very young age. When he was only 6 years old, he remembers vividy sitting in the studio with his uncles and cousin, who had formed a rap group known as the Hell Raiser Gangsters. They were working on an album, and in between songs they helped Rezzy write his first rap. It was a simple rap, as you’d expect for a 6-year-old, but it was enough to plant a seed that has grown over the years, so that today he is pursuing a full-time career in hip-hop.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Rezzy utilizes his rap skills to speak about past experiences, things he’s seen, and the overall lifestyle of the streets that he’s seen up close and personal over the years. With deep metaphors and a versatile flow, Rezzy not only unveils life as he knows it, but captures listeners with a variety of creative styles.
“I don’t think anyone sounds like me, especially not in St. Louis,” he said. “I’m able to adjust to any situation or sound, and I have a versatile style. I can rap on any beat – seriously, you could give me a Justin Bieber beat and I could rap on it. And that’s because I just love music.”
His skills are put on full display with a new mixtape he hopes to drop before the end of the summer. It’s called “I Can’t Fail,” and it’s a collection of songs that reflect on the variety of experiences he’s had over the years. Though he’s collaborated on music in the past, this mixtape is his first solo project.
“It’s a real vibe with songs that people will be able to relate to,” he said. “It will turn some heads and really catch people. I’m speaking on things I’ve seen and been around. I talk about old friends who switched up on me. I talk about shootouts and crazy stuff I saw growing up in the city – dealing with police and stuff like that. And it’s all put to music that people can ride to.”
That “real vibe” is what he hopes to become known for in the music industry. More than anything he just wants to be real and relatable to anyone who listens to his music. The worst thing he could imagine would be for people to consider his music to be fabricated. And though there will always be different vibes from song-to-song, fans can be assured that they’ll always get a heavy dose of reality with his music.
