Florida rapper adopts moniker of former Greek poet, Young Orpheus,
in conjunction with new single ‘Lost In Time’

TAMPA, FL – Every rapper wants to be the greatest rapper alive. Young Orpheus is no different. But when people listen to his music, he wants them to feel that it’s coming from his soul. He wants them to know that he stands out from all the others because of his passion and knowledge of the hip-hop culture – and how those things lend to the musical prowess of one of the country’s hottest up-and- coming hip-hop artists.

His new single, “Lost In Time,” is a perfect example of that combination of talent, passion and raw determination. It’s a song that explores the journey that we all take in life and how, once we get older, we begin to long for the days that used to be.

“Things change, and as they do you start to miss the younger days,” Young Orpheus said. “This song is about the movement that happens through life. As you get older things get more stressful and complicated. You have different relationships, and maybe you deal with things like addiction. A lot of the song is pulled from the things I dealt with while I was trying to cope with growing older.”

Young Orpheus describes the song as a more relaxed vibe with a smooth melody and some kicking boom-bap drums. He said it’s neither slow nor fast, but mellow with a chill vibe that kind of moves right through the middle. And though it’s a song that is a little more mellow than a lot of his other singles, it’s still a song that’s indicative of the kind of music he wants to make.

“I have a really raw sound,” he said. “I don’t do much ad-libbing. I go into the studio, spit, do my thing, and try to produce my own sound. A lot of times I like to combine genres – like put some solid boom-bap with some trap and them mix in some melodic stuff or pop. I’m mixing sounds that I grew up on and with stuff that I listen to today and it all mixes together into my own personal sound.”

At only age 18, Young Orpheus brings a maturity to the game that most others his age don’t have. But music has always been a part of his life, and he recalls learning to rap at a very early age. Growing up in the hard streets of Dover, Delaware, he said music helped him cope with some of the harder things he had to see and experience. Today, he hopes his music can be an escape that helps others through similar situations throughout their lives.
