Before sharing the stage with Bootleg Kev approved emcee Miles Minnick and Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins’ Alienz Alive signee Jon Keith for WESTFEST 2024 on August 17th, LA County residing rap duo Generation Recovery delivers a “Westside Groove.” Featuring talk box vocals from Miguel Bey, the Uneak Music-produced cut lives up to its name seamlessly and is the perfect Summer jam to heat up your family reunion or backyard BBQ.
Micheal Miller and Hope Marin PKA Generation Recovery were born two years apart in the great city of Los Angeles. Although they lived on opposite sides of town, with Mike in South Central and Hope in the Lawndale/Gardena area, the pair had its roots deep in the city; currently residing in South Bay. Growing up, they both had strong familial bonds and were homeschooled. Mike’s mom and sister supported him even without his dad or brother in the picture while Hope’s family, especially her father, assisted in cultivating a strong love for music. As a teen, Mike would work on his craft as a wordsmith, learning from the greats and practicing whenever possible. Around the same age, Hope began singing and playing guitar in her bedroom as a way to get through mentally grueling days.
In a press statement to Medium Creative Agency, the group reveals: [Mike] “Westside Groove is a reminder to give thanks to the creator for all he’s done in our lives despite our transgressions. This song embodies what it means to be joyful no matter the circumstance. [Hope] I ask in my verse do you know who my Jesus is because it is a crucial, life altering question and emphasizes how the Lord has personally been there for me.”
