Toronto’s rising R&B sweetheart, Heather Russell returns with the debut of her first album presented by Gladiator Records, My Metropolis. Premiering Friday, August 10, the highly anticipated album is available via all major streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music and SoundCloud, with an advance worldwide premiere of the music video for “This Ain’t The End” July 27on YouTube.
“My Metropolis was initially motivated by “Lights Off,” one of my favorite songs from the album,” says Heather Russell. “It represents the center point of inspiration for this project and was originally a chorus that I had written in a dream. I dreamt of a city so full of lights, overlooking a vast body of water, representing what seemed to be a place of endless creativity, a place of my own. When I woke, I was already singing the chorus melody! Since that day, this dream has inspired me to create something magical ofmy own, and to share my story with the world.”
Born into a family of musicians, Heather began her music career as a toddler, singing her heart out to Tina Turner in her father’s home studio. By age eight, she had taken up songwriting, leading her to launch a YouTube channel, where her talent was soon discovered by renowned music professionals, Rob Fusari and Simon Cowell. At the age of ten, Heather moved from her home in Toronto in exchange for the bright lights and glamour of Los Angeles, California, under a major record deal with Simon Cowell. Throughout her journey in LA, Heather quickly realized that she had lost her say in creative expression, yearning to be more than a pop star. Today, Heather is signed to the Ontario-based Indie record label, Gladiator Records, owned by multiplatinum singers, songwriters and producers, 80Empire. Heather is excited to share her music with the world, and is dedicated to representing the underground arts scene through her gifted vocals, passion for piano, and upcoming projects.
