Keeping it real, rough, rugged and raw is what JD GATA ( John David
Whiting II) specializes in. Born May 13th 1983 in Houston, Texas JD
GATA grew up experiencing hardships, rough and tough times and
good times which has made him to the awesome rapper he is today.
Playing the trombone in the band gave him knowledge on how to play
music, participating in theater arts gave him the knowledge of
performing, but growing up back in forth from the Alief Southwest
Houston to the city of Tallahassee, Florida JD learned the street life. He
always had love and a special ear for hip hop. Growing up off the
influences of Snoop Dogg, Scarface, Wu-tang, and Outkast motivated
him to want to start rapping when he was in the 4th grade. Since then
he has done many performances, he has been featured on and has
hosted mixtapes, produced, mixed and mastered albums, produced
videos and currently has a new project available now called The Raw.
His music is a unique blend of Southern trap rap mixed with the energy
of original lyrical hip hop, a trap lyricist is what you can call him. Grimey
and the advanced is what the GATA stands for, it’s who he makes
music for.. the people who have and don’t have.
