North Star is Jon Omen’s third release. It was debuted on January 20th, also known as Blue Monday – a day considered the most depressing of the year, with one of the highest suicide rates. It’s release date rings with deep significance, as the song delves into depression and finding a glimmer of hope in the darkness for those dealing with it. It invokes feelings of hopefulness and acts as a beacon of light at the end of the tunnel for its listener. The song is hauntingly sung with a great amount of truth in its lyrics, an ode to the struggles the artist has personally dealt with and overcome. To bring the song full circle, the proceeds of the first month it’d been released were given to the NorthStar ClubHouse, a nonprofit that helps those struggling with mental illness.
