When it comes to putting in work, Bay Area rapper P Smoov is clocking plenty of “Overtime” on his debut Stackin’ and Mackin’, Vol. 1.
The Richmond artist is ready to break onto the scene with the project, hosted by DJ V.I.P. and DJ Inspire, and the music video for its single “Overtime” makes that clear.
He displays the confidence of a seasoned vet, visually taking viewers along for a ride through his blocks as he begins to enjoy the fruits of his labor. That includes tough lessons learned on those streets. The hardest came in prison, but he even used that as a chance to write lyrics, poetry, and hone his skills. It all molded him into the charismatic artist he is throughout his debut, seamlessly moving between alternate styles, flows, and sounds.
It’s impressive on tracks like “Smoke In The Air” and “Bankroll,” where he sets the perfect vibes with his lyrics and production choices. He also showcases his versatility on introspective tracks like “Cold Summers,” where he reflects on struggles and strength.
