Versatile rapper Lyrique King keeps fans on their toes with new music

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Drug addiction… Family issues… Depression… All of these things are obstacles in Lyrique King’s life, but none of them gained victory over his future. In fact, this legend-in-the-making uses those experiences to connect with fans all over the world through music that speaks to the truths of overcoming hardships and the rhythms of living life. His music is the kind that can’t be put in a box but which connects with a wide range of listeners from all walks of life. At the end of the day, all he really wants is to be recognized as a stand-up guy who’s a good artist and a great rapper.

“I want to be considered one of the best,” he said. “I want to collaborate with some of the top people in the industry. I want to be known for being punctual and never keeping it safe. I want to be a legend. I want to have Grammys and win awards. I’m so hungry and driven that nothing can stop me. Nothing can get in my way. The obstacles in my life are meant to be overcome and I’m not worried about it. This is just the beginning for me.”

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana and currently residing in Salt Lake City, Utah, Lyrique King has a unique sound and style that proves his stage name to be 100 percent accurate. He is the king of lyrics and can almost always know what the final project should sound like as soon as he first hears the beat. He takes the things he has struggled through in life and writes about them – sharing his journey from troubled youth to incarcerated adult to progressing himself and putting all his focus on his craft. Turning his focus from the streets into the beats that he’s become known for, his music is exciting and makes the listeners feel like they’re actually experiencing what he’s rapping about. And of course it makes people want to come back for more.

“I think I set myself apart from a lot of other people in the game because I talk about real-life shit,” he said. “I talk about the things I’ve been through and continue to go through. I don’t sugar coat nothing. I don’t talk about things I haven’t been through. I have a story to tell, and I want to do that. If I can have people help me do that, that’s what I’ll do. I can spin. I can make beats. I sing. I rap. I write. I make hooks. I make songs for other singers – male and female. I produce. I play the drums and piano. And I’ve got like 100 different styles. I don’t like to be put in a box. I come in different, not like anyone else, and I’m not a one-trick pony. I’m not just trying to be one way. I get on a beat and I murder it any way I want to murder it. I make music that makes people think and keeps them on their toes.”

The most recent music that Lyrique King has created are a handful of singles that he’s releasing steadily over the next couple of months, including “Not A Word,” for which he has been releasing Instagram clips periodically over the past couple of weeks. In the coming weeks, he’ll continue to give fans a peek behind the scenes into his music through his social media accounts, teasing with singles such as “Antidote” and “On That” and a remixing of Ella Mai’s “Boo’d Up”.
