Acronym freak Luvdara launches new album ‘CRU’
AUBURN, AL – CorDara Daniel – better known by his stage name Luvdara – is a man who loves music … and acronyms.
His very name is an acronym that means Living Under Visuals and serves as a testament to the emphasis he puts on art and fashion as part of a total package musician that he wants to represent. If you were to ask what his standout style is, he’d also respond with an acronym – SIR, which he says stands for Simply Is Rare and describes the pure presentation of sound that the hopes to deliver consistently to an ever-increasing fan-base in the months and years to come.
His most recent project – which, of course, also utilizes an acronym – is one that he hopes will expand that fan-base far and wide. The album is called “CRU,” which stands for “CorDara Really Understands.” Its eight tracks follow through the life of a relationship and explore a variety of grooves and styles under his R&B and his signature sound.
“It starts off slow and then it goes into an up-tempo style of music,” Luvdara said of the progression of tracks over the course of the album. “It’s a project that takes you from love to party. The first song is dedicated to my daughter, the next is a song about a girl that I meet and the love connection that we both feel, and it just goes from there. By the time you get to the sixth song you’re basically at a club having a party.”
The fun project with catchy hooks features a lot of harmonies while embracing a smooth feel of R&B and “have-fun music.” Luvdara said he loves pop music because it reminds him of up-tempo soul music, which is the genre that he first fell in love with as a child. He said he hopes to bring a mixture of Bobby Womack and Chris Brown in a single song.
“I say a lot of stuff that rhymes and sounds great that you’ll have to listen to again to understand what I’m saying,” he said. “I’m not an artist who’s just going to punch-line you to death. I’d rather rhyme and make you think about what I’m talking about.”
That expertise at rhyming and wordplay started at age 5 when his mother – who loved to write music and poetry – would sit him down and teach him the tricks of her trade. He also was born into a family that was steeped in the music industry – something he said made music almost his destiny.
“I just want to make people feel good and listen to a complete song without feeling any sense of disaster,” he said. “I also don’t want them to think money and clothes and cars make you happy all of the time. That’s why I use the word SIR when I describe myself. The simpler I am, the more dope I am to myself and other people.”
