Multi-talented artist takes East Coast by storm with new music

NEWARK, NJ – Make no mistake, Victor Daze is the total package. A graduate of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center Scholarship Program, Daze has not only been a student of singing, but he’s also a trained dancer, model and actor. He has studied with Troy Randall – who was the vocal coach for Patti LaBelle and Wyclef Jean – and he’s worked with Nat Adderly Jr. – who was the music director for Luther Vandross.

In addition to being in multiple theatrical performances – including Judas in “Jesus Christ Superstar,” Miss Roj in “The Colored Museum,” and Laerts in “Hamlet” – Daze has had credits on NBC’s “The Mysteries of Laura,” “Investigation Discoveries,” “The Perfect Murder” and a pilot for “The Internet Ruined My Life.”

But when he’s not acting or modeling, Victor Daze’s biggest passion is music. He’s a classically trained musician who has embraced hip-hop in ways that no other artist before him ever has. His single “I Apologize” is the perfect example. Released a year ago on Valentine’s Day, the song is one that has gained him quite a bit of attention throughout the country for it’s fusion of different styles. Taking his classical training and pairing it with an exploration of sounds pulled from a variety of genres, “I Apologize” is a laid-back, mellow take on R&B and soul.

“I don’t think I sound like anybody else,” Daze said. “Some people have said I have a little bit of Neyo, or Usher, but I think my training has given me a voice all my own. I can still sing classical and opera and musical theater, but I’m not an opera singer trying to sing R&B. You will get a fusion, and I want my music to have elements of those things, but ultimately it’s something different than you’ve ever heard before.”

The single is a song that Daze said is about an emotional breakup and taps into the storytelling form of hip-hop that he loves to much. He said it’s a song that nods to the type of music he hopes to continue to make going forward.

“When I write a song and when I’m performing a song, or if someone is listening to it wherever they are, I want them to hold their lover closer,” he said. “If someone is alone, I want them to feel like I’m helping them. It’s gonna be OK. It’s not that bad. Negative emotions don’t last forever. Change happens every day. I want my music to reflect positivity and happiness.”

His most recent single, “You’re the One,” is a reflection of that mentality. It’s slated to drop at the end of April and, true to form, it’s another love song. Fans can find out more about more of Victor Daze’s music by following him on social media or by visiting:
